Auradin Endgame Build Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter

FAQ

Welcome to the Auradin Endgame Guide! This build is different than most: instead of attacking with your skills, you just melt everything around you simply by existing - thanks to Dawnfire and Holy Light Aura - very similar to the classic Diablo 2 Dream Paladin. This makes the Auradin the most comfortable, most laid-back build you can imagine - literally a walking simulator.

This is an excellent speedfarming setup that can zoom around maps with and evaporate enemies with its Fire aura before they ever have a chance to attack you. Wolves spawned by Ceh also carry this aura, multiplying your damage. Due to the on-kill stacking damage bonus of Dawnfire, this build has incredible AoE clear but still brings relatively good amount of single target damage thanks to the Holy Light Aura multi-hits on the same target.

With Disciple and Arbiter of Justice, we unlock permanent transformation synergies like Celestial Strife and Ascension that boost the damage even further, and the unique Sundered Night makes this a rare two-handed build on the class.

All in all, the Auradin needs little to get started, progresses through the Torment tiers very quickly and eventually ascends to one of the fastest farming builds in the game. Let's fire it up!

Requirements: Dawnfire

Season 1 - Genesis
Auradin

The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").

Bloodied Items

Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:

  • Rampage: % Strength, but in the early game stats like Crit, Attack Speed and Cooldown are useful to reach caps
  • Feast: Every X Kills, reset Y random Cooldowns
  • Hunger: Largely irrelevant, but I suggest increased chance for Hunger Items to find more amulets

There is more to discover including the new seasonal Slaughterhouses and how to transform into the Butcher himself. Learn more details about the season theme in our full Season Guide.

Gameplay Notes
  • Dawnfire is the main source of damage in this build. The only requirement for it is to have Holy Light Aura on the bar and be on the same screen as your enemy. Everything else is included to support this effect.
  • Holy Light Aura - Rite of Judgement passively damages enemies around you but can be activated for some extra damage, especially on bosses.
  • Arbiter of Justice can be used on or off the bar to boost the effects of Arbiter form. It's mainly included for extra comfiness to have a long duration transformation without having to press other buttons.
  • Falling Star is the main mobility tool, used to jump from pack to pack or over obstacles and to trigger Arbiter form with Disciple.
  • Fanaticism Aura adds Weaken and buffs damage, ramping up with repeated attacks.
  • Defiance Aura recovers health and generates Resolve. It can be activated for Unstoppable when needed.
  • Consecration is triggered by Sundered Night every time you press one of your auras. It's important to stay inside its area for the massive Aura Potency boost granted by the unique.
  • Advance is a Basic skill you can spam in downtime for its built-in mobility and offering generation with Moni. It also grants Resolve for survivability and Rite of Might.
  • The starter variant instead runs Condemn to have another activator for Disciple before better cooldown values make it obsolete.
Rotation Breakdown

Skill Rotation

  • Use Arbiter of Justice, Falling Star or Condemn in rotation to remain in Arbiter form.
  • Rotate Holy Light Aura, Fanaticism Aura, and Defiance Aura to trigger Consecration for Sundered Night.
  • In long boss fights, make sure to press Holy Light Aura at least once every 20sec to keep up the buff from Dawnfire.
  • Hold down Advance when you have nothing else to do.

Paladin Oath

As a Disciple, it's all about transforming into Arbiter form as often as possible by using one of Arbiter of Justice, Condemn or Falling Star, allowing you to benefit from various buffs and an improved Evade.

Season 1 - Genesis
Auradin

This section is designed to guide your Auradin from a fresh level 60 into the very late endgame using the three variants Starter, Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Push (Tower/Pit), Speedfarm and more.

If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols or Pale Marks in the Mercenary Den.

Gear & Skills

Gear Setup
Skill Tree
  • Early on in your progression, focus on stacking Maximum Life to survive. As you unlock higher power gear and Paragon points, you naturally scale your character into the higher difficulties and can start replacing some of these rolls with offensive stats or uniques.
  • Dawnfire is required for this build, so we include it right away. It converts your Holy Light Aura into a full screen Fire AoE that ramps up with extra kills. Whenever possible, try to engage bosses immediately after finishing off the last pack to benefit from the extra damage before it times out.
  • Indomitable is not strictly required but makes the build very comfy by providing near-CC immunity.
  • If you find yourself tight on cooldown reduction, use Advance more often to trigger Hectic.
  • While the class-specific aspects are usually stronger, you can also use other generic bonuses like Inner Calm or Elemental Fate until you get them.
  • Arbiter's Zephyr is optional, but makes the build very zoomy when you are transformed into Arbiter.
  • At this stage it's difficult to hit 100% Block Chance, but Bulwark's Aspect, En Garde tempers and some Paragon nodes make it possible. If you feel too squishy, you can invest more into Block earlier (e.g. equip Herald of Zakarum, put the aspect on the amulet, more tempers, rush the Paragon nodes).
  • As soon as you acquire enough cooldown reduction to keep up Arbiter of Justice, you can swap to the Ancestral variant.

Guide Notes

Take a look into this section for a deeper dive on frequently asked questions, common mistakes and the underlying mechanics of how the Auradin works.

Frequently Asked Questions

The build works really well when you decimate everything in seconds, but may get overwhelmed if fights are long against high level monsters. There are several adjustments you can make when you have trouble with more difficult content:

  • Make sure you reach permanent 100% Block Chance to avoid massive damage spikes.
  • Use defensive consumables (Reddamine Buzz, Soothing Spices, Elixir of Fortitude II).
  • Roll Maximum Life instead of offensive stats on as many pieces as possible.
  • Kite enemies when they become Unstoppable.
  • Replace an offensive rune with Mot, Que or Xal.

Mechanics

  • Some builds don't have an obvious synergy for their Oath choices, usually defaulting to Disciple for smaller buffs and the ability to use Ascension + Celestial Strife.
  • Disciple only refreshes its duration, it doesn't add up when spamming skills to activate it.
  • Disciple benefits from the Arbiter of Justice's Seraph's Wings and Reach of the Law upgrades.
  • Disciple does not allow to refresh the entire duration of Arbiter of Justice, only up to the timer of what the Oath itself allows.
