At its core, this build revolves around the Dolmen Stone unique, which empowers your Boulder to orbit around you while Hurricane is active, and provides a considerable damage bonus for each active Boulder you have, up to a maximum of ten. Due to the build-defining characteristics of this unique, it is not recommended to play Boulder without first acquiring the Dolmen Stone.
The Metamorphic Stone aspect is essential for this build to operate, since it allows you to bypass Boulder's Cooldown and benefit from Core Skill increases for additional damage. To effectively harness the full potential of your Boulder Druid, enhance Boulder into a Werebear Skill using Vasily's Prayer, gaining access to offensive and defensive Werebear bonuses. By the endgame, the Boulder Druid boasts fantastic offensive and defensive capabilities and handles all content with ease.

Boulder Druid
The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").
Bloodied Items
Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), and Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:
- Rampage: Primary Core Stat, Cooldown Reduction, Critical Strike Chance, Maximum Life
- Feast: Berserking, Chains, BloodSplosion
- Hunger: Prioritize increased XP. Otherwise, use what you prefer/have access to.

Gameplay Notes
- Claw unlocks your Core Skill section and provides you with the Werewolf form for Heightened Senses and Toxic Claws. This skill also serves as your backup Spirit generator.
- Boulder is your main damage skill, summoning powerful Earth Boulders that Knock Back enemies and deal massive AoE damage. Use Metamorphic Stone to enhance your Boulder into a Core Skill, removing its Cooldown and unlocking Core Skill related multipliers such as Retaliation and Wild Impulses. Pick up Savage Boulder to apply Poison to enemies with ease. Before acquiring Ring of Starless Skies, you can remedy Boulder's high Spirit Cost by utilizing Mjölnic Ryng and Cataclysm, or by Tempering Casting Wrath Skills Restores Primary Resource, which is available on your Jewelry.
- Earthen Bulwark offers you a Barrier and Unstoppable, and with its upgrade Preserving Earthen Bulwark, it ensures you have a steady supply of Fortify.
- Cyclone Armor passively grants you a sizable amount of Elemental Damage Reduction. Pair its active with Innate Cyclone Armor to Knock Back and weaken your enemies when you cast it.
- Hurricane provides you with Damage Reduction while active and is required for Boulder to orbit around you. Early on, you can Temper Hurricane Duration to extend it if your Cooldown is limited.
- Petrify empowers your Critical Strike Damage and also replenishes your Spirit. Temper Petrify Duration to prolong its effect, and take its upgrades to recover it faster against Bosses.
Rotation Breakdown
Skill Rotation
- Before engaging in a fight, stack your Shapeshifting buffs (primarily Quickshift) by alternating between Boulder and Claw.
- Afterwards, activate Hurricane and begin casting Boulder to deal damage. Aim to keep 10 Boulders active at all times for maximum damage.
- Boulder's icon on your Skill Bar displays how many are active at a time.
- Utilize your Defensive skills as necessary for short bursts of damage and Damage Reduction. The Unstoppable effect granted by Earthen Bulwark replenishes your Spirit and increases your damage when paired with Tibault's Will.
- Petrify enemies, especially Bosses, to deal significantly more damage to them. Casting this skill also grants you a large amount of Spirit.
- If you find yourself out of Spirit, you can generate some by damaging enemies with Claw.
Spirit Boons
Druids can choose 5 out of 16 Passive bonuses (Boons) from 4 different Spirits. Bond with one of the Spirits (by clicking its Portrait in the Spirit Boon menu) to activate two of its Boons. Use the following Boons:
Deer Spirit: Gift of the Stag
Eagle Spirit: Avian Wrath
Wolf Spirit: Energize
Snake Spirit: Obsidian Slam
Bond with the Eagle Spirit and activate Iron Feather for additional Maximum Life. Otherwise, to reach your Critical Strike Chance cap easier, opt for Scythe Talons.

Boulder Druid
This section is designed to guide your Boulder Druid from level 60 into the very late endgame using the variants Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Push (Tower/Pit), Speedfarm and more.
The goal here is to progress through the Torment difficulties as you unlock Ancestrals, Paragon points, all Legendary Aspects, Temper mods and the most important Uniques to pilot this build. Some Legendary Aspects are used temporarily to fill slots that may be replaced with more Unique items later on.

The Dolmen Stone is one of two important-to-get items to get the Boulder Druid online, the other being Metamorphic Stone, which makes Boulder a Core skill and removes its Cooldown. As a result, it is recommended to transition into this build only after you've acquired these items.
- You can find the Dolmen Stone from Duriel, King of Maggots, and/or Andariel. If you're having difficulty defeating any Boss, remember to lower your Torment tier for an easier fight.
- Vasily's Prayer unlocks powerful Werebear bonuses, most notably Survival Instincts and Changeling's Debt, and can be obtained from Echo of Varshan.
- Tibault's Will offers a healthy amount of All Stats and Critical Strike Chance, and pairs well with Enhanced Earthen Bulwark for a solid damage multiplier. This unique can be acquired from Duriel, King of Maggots, and/or Andariel.
- Note that Boulder's base Spirit cost is high. To be able to cast it freely, make use of the Mjölnic Ryng and Cataclysm for unlimited Spirit.

To enable the Boulder Druid to perform optimally, hunt for these stats on your gear with good rolls and aim to Temper ⚒️ & Masterwork them accordingly. Frequently Asked Questions
The Boulder Druid uses a Two-Handed Weapon, preferably a Two-Handed Mace, for its high Damage Per Hit and Overpower damage bonus.
Metamorphic Stone's damage multiplier references Boulder's base damage, which means its multiplier is a 1.6x (since 160% of normal damage is 60% more damage). If you equip this Aspect on a Two-Handed Weapon, it becomes a 320%, or a 3.2x multiplier. Mathematically, this Aspect is better than Rabid Bear / Retaliation; however, Metamorphic Stone (presumably bugged) does not properly scale/interact with all your Additive Damage increases. As a result, you deal significantly more damage with Rabid Bear / Retaliation on your Two-Handed Weapon instead of Metamorphic Stone.
Mechanics
Vasily's Prayer makes your Earth Skills also count as Werebear Skills, Fortifying up to 0.5% of your Maximum Health with every cast. While the Helm offers significant value with its Armor, Life, and %Willpower, the real value lies in its ability to turn Earth skills into Werebear skills. This grants you powerful offensive and defensive bonuses like Quickshift, Heightened Senses, Iron Fur, and Survival Instincts to list a few.
