Companion Druid Endgame Build Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter

FAQ

Welcome to the Companion Druid Endgame Guide! If you're looking to flood the screen with minions and make short work of endgame Bosses, this build is for you! Ravens serve as the centerpiece of the build, but all Companions passively assist you with the One With Nature Key Passive, and all Companions buff each other thanks to Shepherd's.

In Season 11, Ravens are significantly weaker without the Core Skill tag, and now heavily rely on Wildrage to reset their Cooldown. You have up to an 80% chance to instantly reset your Ravens with a 2H Weapon Wildrage, as long as your Ravens Cooldown is 5 seconds or lower. Note that because this aspect caps out at 80%, you will experience times where your Ravens will not reset, and you will have to wait out the Cooldown. To combat this and improve your overall experience, take advantage of Pack Leader and ensure your Critical Strike Chance is capped as early as possible.

In Diablo 4, Companions inherit 100% of your character's stats, so scaling things like Damage Reduction, Critical Strike Chance, and Willpower makes them more effective. This build leverages the Storm tags granted by Stormcrow's for several damage increases. Among these are Thunderstruck, Defiance, and Natural Disaster. Companions also proc Lucky Hits, allowing you to reset their Cooldowns with Pack Leader. Grizzly Rage is incorporated for its damage multiplier and access to Rampaging Werebeast.

This guide teaches you all about how to combat the endgame in Diablo 4 with the Companion Druid. Let's get started!

Season 1 - Genesis
Companion Druid

The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").

Bloodied Items

Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), and Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:

  • Rampage: Primary Core Stat, Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction, Critical Strike Chance, Maximum Life
  • Feast: Berserking, Chains, BloodSplosion
  • Hunger: Prioritize increased XP. Otherwise, use what you prefer/have access to.

There is more to discover including the new seasonal Slaughterhouses and how to transform into the Butcher himself. Learn more details about the season theme in our full Season Guide.

技能与玩法

Season 1 - Genesis
Companion Druid
Gameplay Notes
  • Claw provides you with the Werewolf form for Heightened Senses and Toxic Claws, and is used to stack and maintain Quickshift outside of Grizzly Rage. By casting this skill before entering Grizzly Rage you benefit twice over from Toxic Claws's effect, even as a Werebear.
  • Cyclone Armor disappears from your skill bar during Grizzly Rage but continues to provide its passive Elemental Damage Reduction.
  • Debilitating Roar has good offensive and defensive utility, and activates Vigilance and Backlash for more Toughness and damage.
  • Ravens are your primary damage skill. Thanks to Wildrage, you have a high chance to reset their Cooldown instantly, as long as the Cooldown is 5 seconds or lower. Further reducing Ravens' Cooldown below 5 seconds is nice for shortening downtime if they fail to reset. Ensure Ravens are the only Companion Skill on your skill bar for Wildrage to function properly. If you prefer more damage over consistency, you can slot it Shepherd's on your Two-Handed Weapon instead. This build also uses Pack Leader as a backup method of resetting Companion Skills.
  • Trample is your mobility tool, and a source of Unstoppable for when your Grizzly Rage is on Cooldown.
  • Grizzly Rage is your Ultimate, providing you with massive damage multipliers from itself and Rampaging Werebeast, and additional Damage Reduction. Grizzly Rage does not reduce its own Cooldown while active, so use Flickerstep and Cooldown Reduction to quickly get it back.

Passives

  • Your key passive, One With Nature, bolsters Companion damage and adds to your minion total, buffing Shepherd's.
  • Call of the Wild is easily the strongest Passive skill, followed by Envenom and Nature's Reach.
Rotation Breakdown

Skill Rotation

  1. When you first enter a zone and before entering Grizzly Rage, alternate between Claw and Ravens to stack Quickshift and double Toxic Claws's damage bonus.
    • If your Ravens are on Cooldown, you can use the Emote / Town Portal button to Shapeshift and stack these bonuses, and this also works while in Grizzly Rage.
  2. Enter Grizzly Rage and use Debilitating Roar when needed to debuff enemies and increase your damage. Trample as necessary for a burst of mobility.
    • Note that Grizzly Rage's Cooldown does not decrease while active. Leverage Cooldown Reduction and Flickerstep to recover it quickly.
  3. Target Elites and other high health targets with your Ravens. Avoid Plagued Elites and other damaging ground effects when possible, as these will rapidly reduce your minion count.

Spirit Boons

Druids can choose 5 out of 16 Passive bonuses (Boons) from 4 different Spirits. Bond with one of the Spirits (by clicking its Portrait in the Spirit Boon menu) to activate two of its Boons. Use the following Boons:

Deer Spirit: Wariness
Eagle Spirit: Avian Wrath
Wolf Spirit: Pack Leader
Snake Spirit: Overload

Bond with the Eagle Spirit and activate Iron Feather. Alternatively, you can activate Scythe Talons for more Critical Strike Chance and Lucky Hit.

Season 1 - Genesis
Companion Druid

This section is designed to guide your Companion Druid from a fresh level 60 into the very late endgame using the three variants Starter, Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Push (Tower/Pit), Speedfarming and more.

If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols or Pale Marks in the Mercenary Den.

Gear & Skills

Gear Setup
Skill Tree
  • Early on in your progression, focus on stacking Maximum Life to survive. As you unlock higher power gear and Paragon points, you naturally scale your character's Toughness, and can start replacing some of these rolls with offensive stats. Note that a single roll of Life per Hit on either your Weapon, Gloves, or Rings is essential for recovery, as is a roll of Lucky Hit: Chance to Inflict Vulnerable, for applying Vulnerable to enemies consistently.
  • At this stage, your goal is to improve the consistency and damage of your Ravens. Hunt down Wildrage and Stormcrow's, as well as Rabid Bear and Rampaging Werebeast in preparation to switch to Grizzly Rage.
  • Eventually, with enough Ravens Cooldown Reduction and a decent roll of Wildrage, you can transition into Grizzly Rage, but make sure to supplement this transition with Cooldown Reduction, to ensure a good recovery on your Ultimate as well.
    • Obtaining a well rolled Wildrage is crucial for a consistent experience.
    • Keep Lightning Storm around to help you reset your Companions via Pack Leader.

Guide Notes

Once a guide is released, many players have questions on why and how we are approaching certain choices. In this section you can find the answers to the questions that have been asked the most.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Companion Druid takes advantage of a Two-Handed Polearm for its greater Damage Per Hit value, Vulnerable Damage, and ability to double Wildrage, which is essential for resetting Ravens. A Two-Handed Mace is also viable.

Season 1 - Genesis

Key Takeaways
  • The Companion Druid brings a swarm of allies to the party and enhances all of their damage with Shepherd's. Ravens are the primary focus of this build with Wolves as a variant for Pushing.
  • Companion summons inherit 100% of the player's stats. Focus on stacking Cooldown Reduction, Willpower, Critical Strike Chance, and Damage Reduction, as well as obtaining a well-rolled Wildrage Aspect to reset your Ravens consistently.
  • Grizzly Rage can no longer reduce its Cooldown while active, so employ Cooldown Reduction and Flickerstep for a quick recovery.
