Flay Barbarian Endgame Build Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter

by snail/Season 12 - Slaughter/Last Updated: 2026年4月27日Maxroll 导入

Welcome to the Flay Barbarian Build Guide! This Basic Skill makes its long awaited return after having a brief moment in the spotlight in Season 4. Like the other Basics, it recently got a plethora of much needed buffs that bring it back from the depths of mediocrity, some of which include:

  • Adaptability, an Aspect that grants a large damage multiplier that is based on Maximum Fury (up to 500.)
  • Hooves of the Mountain God, boots that give Basic Skills a small AoE cleave effect and a ton of extra damage.
  • Wanton Rupture Aspect, which now grants a multiplier to Bleed durations.
  • The Two-Handed Sword Expertise also now grants an unconditional 30% multiplier to Bleed damage.
  • Melted Heart of Selig, once one of the worst Mythic items, is now insanely good for scaling damage and survivability (especially for Basic Skills!)

Additionally, it has access to some already powerful weapons - Shard of Verathiel and Ramaladni's Magnum Opus - which perfectly synergize with the Fury stacking concept to boost damage to impressive levels. Flay itself has a rather unique set of weapon tempers as well; rather than the typical "hit twice" or "deal double damage", it gets increased duration, which is technically only limited by the ranges that can be rolled and masterworked (up to 315% in this setup!)

If you've been fiending for a Bleed build, Flay with Rupture and Gushing Wounds support is here to scratch that itch - just try not to get too messy!

Season 1 - Genesis
Flay Barbarian

If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols or Pale Marks in the Mercenary Den.

How it Works

Season 1 - Genesis
Flay Barbarian

Skills & Rotation

  • Flay is the main skill used to inflict heavy Bleeds. With the use of weapon tempers, you are able to amplify the duration to a point where the enemy's entire health bar is afflicted by Bleed damage. This means that even if left alone, they inevitably succumb to the damage over time effect. Enhanced Flay also has great built-in Vulnerable utility, which enhances your damage even more.
  • Hammer of the Ancients is used for its upgraded version, Violent Hammer of the Ancients, which grants a global 40% damage multiplier for a short time whenever it Overpowers. This is accomplished by using the Xan Rune.
  • Ground Stomp is used to help group enemies, which helps a lot in dealing with the small range of Flay (and Basics in general). It has a secondary use, too, which is creating Earthquakes to benefit from the huge damage multiplier granted by the Earthquakes Aspect.
  • War Cry is a Shout that gives you a very respectable damage boost while it's active. Cast it whenever it is off cooldown.
  • Rupture is your "delete button;" use it against enemies that have reached maximum Bleed duration to execute them instantly.
  • Wrath of the Berserker is your Ultimate of choice, as it enables permanent Berserking and Unstoppable status, on top of its stacking multiplicative damage bonus. It also functions as an extra AoE pull and works wonders when used in combination with Ground Stomp.

Skill Rotation

  • The skill rotation for Flay is relatively simple, since you're usually just holding down the button and occasionally casting your other skills when they come off cooldown.
  • In the case of Hammer of the Ancients, however, you want to use it about every 4-5 seconds to maintain its Maximum Fury increase and 40% damage boost (via the Xan Rune.)
  • Cast Wrath of the Berserker whenever it's available to maintain its buffs and grouping effect. To help with this, use Ground Stomp to lower its cooldown and provide additional grouping utility.
  • As mentioned earlier, cast War Cry whenever it's available to benefit from its damage multiplier. If you prefer to automate this, it's a viable option to run Igni + Ohm in place of any other Runeword.
  • Cast Rupture once at the start your encounter, and then again when you want to execute something. It's important not to spam this skill whenever it's off cooldown (even though it's awesome), doing so will reset your Bleed duration that has been built up by attacking with Flay. Always make sure this is a killing blow before using it.

Gear

  • First and foremost, this build uses Melted Heart of Selig. This has some major implications that completely change how the build functions. If done correctly, the build is extremely tanky (almost immortal) and gets a huge damage boost on top of it. This extreme tankiness is due to the fact the lower your Maximum Life is compared to your Maximum Fury, the more damage reduction you receive. Ideally, you want your Maximum Life to be in the mid/high-200's to take full advantage of this. READ:
  • Crown of Lucion gives you a stacking damage multiplier whenever you spend Fury, but also increases your Fury costs. These costs are offset by the large amount of Fury Generation that the build possesses, as well as the natural ability of Basic Skills to generate Fury on their own.
  • Tibault's Will works in combination with Rallying Cry to provide a good 20% generic damage boost. It also gives you a decent amount of Maximum Fury, along with other great stats.
  • Hooves of the Mountain God are what give Flay its ability to cleave in a small area in front of it. Many of the stats on this item are great, but ranks to Belligerence should be prioritized first. When wearing these, Fury constantly drains at an increasing rate until it is empty, at which point the draining effect resets. The inherent Fury per Second that is present here helps prevent this, along with the other Fury recoup sources that were mentioned previously.
  • Ramaladni's Magnum Opus gives you a massive damage multiplier that is based on your Maximum Fury, and is an incredible item when combined with Melted Heart of Selig.
  • Shard of Verathiel gives you yet another massive damage multiplier, as well as some Basic Skill ranks and Maximum Fury. In general, the Basic Attack Speed stat on this item (which is also present on Hooves of the Mountain God) is not that important to focus on, since you naturally cap or come close to capping this Attack Speed breakpoint with almost no effort.
  • Ring of Starless Skies is typically a no-brainer choice for most builds; for this one, it gives a very respectable 50% multiplicative damage increase, some Attack Speed, and a ton of extra Critical Strike Chance.
  • Adaptability scales your damage based on your Maximum Fury, similar to Ramaladni's Magnum Opus. It does have a cap, but is still one of the best offensive Aspects in the game.
  • Wanton Rupture is essentially a 60% damage multiplier for all Bleed damage. Note that at the time of this writing, this Aspect is bugged and grants lower values when imprinted elsewhere (Two-Handed Weapons, Amulet.)
