Heartseeker Rogue Endgame Build Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter

FAQ

Welcome to the Heartseeker Rogue Guide! This is a basic attack build designed for quick and fast gameplay that does well in both single target applications and density, thanks to many different multiplicative offerings to buff Heartseeker itself.

Heartseeker really starts getting good when you find the Shard of Verathiel. which is a hefty damage buff and a way to cleverly use the Preparation specialization to take this build even further.

We also use Preparation for damage reduction and to cast our ultimate skill often, giving us full uptime on a massive legendary node multiplier, No Witnesses.

For season 12, we're using Victimize as the key passive of choice with its new rework. This allows us to play this build at ranged.

Note that information outside of Build Variants is described from the perspective of the Mythic variant.

Season 1 - Genesis
Heartseeker Rogue

The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").

Bloodied Items

Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:

  • Rampage: Primary stat, maximum life, attack speed, movement speed
  • Feast: Berserker.
  • Hunger: Hunger items, Feast items.

There is more to discover including the new seasonal Slaughterhouses and how to transform into the Butcher himself. Learn more details about the season theme in our full Season Guide.

Gameplay Notes
  • Heartseeker is our damage dealing Skill of choice that also procs Preparation.
  • Shadow Clone procs No Witnesses legendary node. It also deals damage, like for real this time. It is actually useful.
  • Dark Shroud is taken for defense and mobility.
  • Caltrops is primary for tougher targets that will take a little longer to kill. This skill provides a massive buff while enemies are inside for long periods of time.
  • Dash gives you incredible mobility to fly across the battlefield and an easy way to get out of tough situations.
  • Smoke Grenade gives us quite a bit of utility from more damage to disabling enemies so that they cannot attack. The poison from the grenade refreshes the mark from Paingorger's Gauntlets after it makes contact, which is where most of our damage comes from in this build.

Passives

  • For season 12, we're back to using Victimize as the key passive of choice with its new rework. This allows us to play this build at ranged.
Rotation Breakdown

Skill Rotation

The Heartseeker Rogue is a straight forward shooter of a build. It's high in mobility and damage modifiers. Below explains how to best get the most out of each skill on your bar.

  • Use Dash to get around the map really fast. Often times, you'll want to engage with this first to start off.
  • Use Smoke Grenade whenever you see an elite pack to disable them. This also gives a nice multiplier which allows you to burst them down quickly.
  • Caltrops can be saved for tougher mobs as it's not needed in every fight. Place them well to keep enemies inside as long as possible.
  • Use Shadow Clone to proc No Witnesses legendary node, unstoppable and a summon that's nearly comparable to your damage along side you. Use this as often as you can as this should be up 100% of the time.
  • Heartseeker is the main skill. You can start most engagements with this when dealing with just trash mobs, but for maximum output, follow the rotation above.
  • Make sure to keep up Dark Shroud at all times for maximum defense and mobility. You can cast this whenever it's on cooldown for efficiency.

Class Mechanic

Rogue Specialization

Preparation - Spend resource to reduce your ultimate cooldown and gain 15% damage reduction.

For Heartseeker this requires Shard of Verathiel for it to spend energy to make use of this specialization.

流派变体

Season 1 - Genesis
Heartseeker Rogue

This section is designed to guide your Heartseeker from a fresh level 60 into the very late endgame using the three variants Starter, Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Pit Pushing, Speedfarming and more.

If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols or Pale Marks in the Mercenary Den.

Make sure to use Elixir of Resourcefulness II to scale our energy to maximize the new Adaptability rework aspect.

Gear & Skills

Gear Setup
Skill Tree
  • Early on in your progression, focus on Armor & Resistances to survive. As you unlock higher power gear, masterworking levels and more Paragon points, you naturally scale your character into the higher difficulties and can start replacing some of these rolls with offensive or utility stats.
  • Coldclip and Shard of Verathiel are the foundations of progressing the build.

Guide Notes

Take a look into this section for a deeper dive on frequently asked questions, common mistakes and the underlying mechanics of how the Heartseeker Rogue works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most of your damage comes from Shadow Clone and its interaction with the Paingorgers mark. The Paingorgers effect does not activate on the second projectile casted from a cast twice stat, making other stats like clone double damage more important for better output.

However, we prioritize projectiles on Orphan Maker with push version due to the shadow clone bug, as the burst damage is so strong, it makes the second projectile worth, even without the Paingorgers proc.

Mechanics

  • Dark Shroud stacks damage reduction additively for each active shadow. Due to the additive stacking, each increase in the skill's rank and active shadows boosts your survivability exponentially.
  • At maximum stacks, increasing your total Ranks of Dark Shroud affects your effective hit points (eHP) against one-shots as follows:
    • Increasing Dark Shroud from:
      • Rank 1 to Rank 5: 15.3% more eHP
      • Rank 1 to Rank 11: 50% more eHP
      • Rank 1 to Rank 15: 87.5% more eHP
      • Rank 5 to Rank 11: 30.1% more eHP
      • Rank 5 to Rank 15: 62.5% more eHP
      • Rank 11 to Rank 15: 25% more eHP

The Heartseeker Rogue is a superb allrounder with a toolkit that prepares you for all situations. It's a fun and mobile farming build that with a few tweaks can transform into a DPS powerhouse to take on the biggest challenges the game has to offer. I hope you enjoy a great build.

  • Use Shadow Clone to proc No Witnesses legendary node and deal more damage overall.
  • Use Smoke Grenade to disable elites and give a nice multiplier.
  • Caltrops can be saved for tougher mobs as it's not needed in every fight. Place them well to keep enemies inside as long as possible.
