Welcome to the Rock Splitter Thorns Spiritborn Endgame Guide! This build is focused on using Rock Splitter to apply Thorns damage on every third attack with Accelerated Rock Splitter. Razorplate gives us a ton of Thorns to scale this damage and Sepazontec takes this to the next level by allowing us apply Thorns damage on every attack instead of every third attack.
Rock Splitter Thorns Spiritborn Endgame Build Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter
This build uses Primary Eagle to make all your attacks apply Vulnerable Secondary Jaguar so that you can generate Ferocity for increased attack speed and so that we can use Harmony of Ebewaka to turn all our skills into an Eagle and Jaguar skills.
A major turning point for the build is when you find the Xan Rune. This is because the Thorns damage from Accelerated Rock Splitter is a part of the skill, and this makes it able to scale with things that Thorns normally can't scale with like Basic Skill Damage, and Mobility Damage. Xan is one of these things as it causes the Thorns damage from Accelerated Rock Splitter to Crit and Overpower when it procs. This allows us to start scaling our damage with Critical Damage and Overpower Damage.
Eventually we grab a Melted Heart of Selig which makes us take damage to our Vigor before our Life while lowering our actual Life. Because our Life has been lowered like this we can use Life on Hit from the Ring Affix Carnage to constantly heal our entire Life pool. This allows you to use Jacinth Shell to constantly reduce the cooldowns of your skills.
One of the great things about starting Rock Splitter is that none of the Legendary Aspects, Unique, or Mythic items are required for the build to function. This allows us to have very smooth progression right from the start of the game all the way into the Torment difficulties and beyond.
Let's get started!
赛季主 题与构筑适配
The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").
Bloodied Items
Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:
- Rampage: Revel
- Feast: Tenderize
- Hunger: Tenderize

技能与玩法
- Rock Splitter is your primary source of damage for this build. With Sepazontec, you constantly apply Thorns each attack.
- Toxic Skin is taken to double Thorns damage through Replenishing Toxic Skin.
- Counterattack is used to gain 100% dodge chance while the buff is active which is not only amazing defensively but also gives you 3000 Thorns while using the glyph Hubris.
- Armored Hide is your source of Unstoppable, Resolve, gives 100% Block Chance, provides some extra Block Damage Reduction, and a bit of Thorns.
- Scourge is used for the Fear, increased damage vs crowd controlled enemies, and as a source of Vigor generation which is essentially healing while using Melted Heart of Selig.
- The Protector is your Ultimate Skill of choice for its ability to pulls enemies together with Hesha e Kesungi, give us an additional source of thorns damage, and make enemies deal less damage and take more damage.
Skill Rotation
- Try to keep the buffs from Armored Hide, Counterattack, and Reinforced Scourge up as much as possible as Armored Hide gives you Unstoppable and refills your Resolve stacks, Counterattack gives you 100% dodge chance and 3000 Thorns via the glyph Hubris, and Reinforced Scourge gives you constant healing while using Melted Heart of Selig via Vigor generation.
- You want to prioritize keeping Armored hide up over Counterattack as you need to drop the buff from Counterattack once every 10 seconds anyway to gain the damage bonus from Redirected Force. Because of this make sure you use Armored Hide any time your about to use The Protector to get two free casts of Armored Hide from the passive Intricacy.
- Use The Protector to pulling enemies together.
- Use Rock Splitter to deal all of your damage while dashing to your targets.
- Use Scourge to fear enemies, buff your damage to crowd controlled enemies, gain the x100% damage bonus to poisoned enemies and give you constant Vigor generation.
- You don't need to press Toxic Skin but it needs to be on your skill bar to gain the x100% increased Thorns damage vs poisoned enemies.
Spiritborn Spirit Hall
Primary: Eagle Primary Hall makes it so that you can apply Vulnerable with all of your attacks.
Secondary: Jaguar Secondary Hall lets you generate Ferocity when you kill enemies or hit a boss giving you increased attack speed.

流派变体
This section is designed to guide your Rock Splitter Thorns Spiritborn from a fresh level 60 into the very late endgame using the three variants Starter, Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Push (Tower/Pit), Speedfarm and more.
If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols or Pale Marks in the Mercenary Den.
Gear & Skills
- Early on in your progression, focus on stacking Maximum Life to survive. As you unlock higher power gear and Paragon points, you naturally scale your character into the higher difficulties and can start replacing some of these rolls with offensive stats or uniques.
- This early on you still use Gorilla Primary Hall for the Barrier Generation and Thorns damage.
- For runes you want to start off using Moni + Thul to Freeze enemies and apply Vulnerable, and Cir + Kry to trigger Vortex pulling enemies together.
- You do not deal as much damage without the massive damage increase from Sepazontec and the large amount of Thorns from Razorplate. These are the build defining uniques early on and the power you achieve from looting them can easily carry you to the next tier. Gamble all of your Obols on Quarterstaffs and Chest Armors. Fight Andariel, Duriel, or Belial for Sepazontec, Lord Zir for Razorplate and The Beast in the Ice for Harmony of Ebewaka.

装备 / 佣兵 / 符文
This section describes how to optimize your Rock Splitter Thorns Spiritborn with the right Item Affixes, Runes and Mercenary choices.
To enable the Quill Volley Spiritborn to perform optimally, hunt for these stats on your gear with good rolls and aim to Temper ⚒️ & Masterwork Crit them accordingly. Keep in mind that certain stats, such as Extra Size Tempers, Attack Speed, Critical Strike Chance and more, have caps that may affect your priorities according to the items and Paragon points available at that moment.
Recommended Consumables: Soothing Spices, Scents of the Desert Afternoon, Queen's Supreme & Elixir of Resourcefulness II.
常见问题与机制
Take a look into this section for a deeper dive on frequently asked questions, common mistakes and the underlying mechanics of how the Rock Splitter Thorns Spiritborn works.
The build works really well when you decimate everything in seconds, but may get overwhelmed if fights are long against high level monsters. There are several adjustments you can make when you have trouble with more difficult content:
- Use defensive consumables (Reddamine Buzz, Soothing Spices, Elixir of Fortitude II).
- Roll Maximum Life instead of offensive stats on as many pieces as possible.
- Kite enemies when they become Unstoppable.
- Replace an offensive rune with Mot, Que or Xal.
Mechanics
The following is a quick summary of what Rock Splitter is and what it is not.
- Rock Splitter is an active effect, meaning when you deal damage with Rock Splitter, you trigger the effect.
- Rock Splitter is indirect damage, which means it does not stack effects such as Jaguar Primary Spirit Hall.
- Rock Splitter is a skill, so should carry skill-based modifiers.
- Rock Splitter does retain the skill tags from Rock Splitter
BD 总结
The Rock Splitter Gorilla Thorns is a fast paced, defensive, area damage dealing machine. You utilize your basic attack to deal all of your damage with thorns, there is no resource management and no downtime in your combat.
- Rock Splitter applies Thorns on every hit with the use of Sepazontec. While Hesha e Kesungi lets The Protector constantly pull all your enemies together so you can poison and fear them with Scourge then beat them to death with Rock Splitter.
- Incredibly powerful build due to using the combination of Melted Heart of Selig and Jacinth Shell to become extremely tanky and constantly reduce your cooldowns. Make sure you rotate your Defensive skills to ensure maximum survivability and activate Adaptive Stances.
