Welcome to the Wing Strikes Paladin Leveling Guide! This is a build that is completely enabled by the Disciple Oath. Unlike most builds, Wing Strikes is not available in the Skill Tree and doesn't have ranks or other nodes that modify it; instead, it's more-or-less an auto-skill that is always active as long as you are in Arbiter form and have the Disciple Oath chosen.
Wing Strikes Paladin Leveling Guide for Diablo IV Season 12 - Slaughter
Leveling with Wing Strikes is very smooth, but there is a catch: you don't actually have access to it until you unlock your Oath, and even then, it takes some time for it to feel smooth and efficient; realistically, expect it to come online around the halfway mark of your 1 - 60 journey.
Luckily, the Paladin has some powerful options for getting you to that point. In this guide, Blessed Hammer is used for the early leveling portion before making the swap to Wing Strikes. This is a strong Core Skill with a very low Faith cost that offers a relatively passive gameplay experience that is similar to Wing Strikes, especially when paired with the Disciple's Halo enhancement.
There are more things to unlock explained in the Wing Strikes Paladin Endgame Guide, where this build becomes one of the strongest, tankiest, and laziest specs in the entire game. Auto-bombers, assemble!
赛季主题与构筑适配
The Season 12 theme brings Killstreaks and Bloodied Items to Diablo 4. Slay enemies in succession to begin a streak that grants increasingly greater benefits based on which affixes you roll on your gear in addition to seasonal reputation and experience. Tiers are divided as follows: Killstreak (0-99) - Carnage (100-249) - Devastation (250-499) - Bloodbath (500-999) - Massacre (1000-9000) - Fresh Meat! (9001+). For most instanced content types, you can typically expect to reach up to the 4th tier (Bloodbath). Additionally, you can find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and Lair Bosses that offer greater challenges and rewards (introducing "pseudo Torment 5").
Bloodied Items
Bloodied affixes are bonus affixes that can randomly roll on gear and come in three categories: Rampage (armor), Feast (weapons), Hunger (jewelry). The first two offer minor combat effects while the latter boosts specific loot drops, which doesn't impact your build. Recommended affixes for this build are:
- Rampage: Critical Strike Chance, Cooldown, Life On Hit
- Feast: Berserking, Reset Cooldown
- Hunger: Chance for [x] Items, Salvage Materials, Extra Gold

Getting Started
Note:
Unlike most leveling builds, Wing Strikes doesn't come online right away; in fact, it makes the most sense to start playing it around the time you've unlocked exactly 26 Skill Points. Until then, it's best to use something like Blessed Hammer for a smooth early game experience until it's time to transition.
Basic + Core
To start off, you have to put a point into any Basic Skill in order to unlock the other sections. Use Advance for now to stay mobile and cleave enemies with its small AoE slashes.
Blessed Hammer is your Core Skill of choice. When you get the opportunity to upgrade it, select Disciple's Halo to have your hammers orbit you while you move around the map. This enhancement makes your gameplay relatively passive in nature; generally, just cast a few hammers and keep moving while they destroy everything around you. Weave in some Advance slashes periodically if you need to restore Faith.
Auras
Almost any Paladin build makes use of Auras in some way, and each Aura has both a passive and active effect:
Holy Light Aura targets random enemies around you every 2 seconds and is a great source of supplemental damage early on. Utilize its active effect for an additional burst against Elite enemies.
Defiance Aura gives you a boost to your Armor and All Resistances, as well as the Unstoppable buff when its active effect is triggered.
Fanaticism Aura gives you a stacking Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed buff whenever you cast Blessed Hammer, up to 4 stacks. You can also press it whenever it's off cooldown to Weaken surrounding enemies.
Falling Star + Oath
Falling Star is a staple on many builds as a mobility tool, and this one is no exception. Select the Freefall enhancement once it's available to gain another charge and drastically speed up your map traversal.
At level 15, you unlock your class mechanic called Oaths. There are four possible options, each defining a specific archetype: Zealot, Juggernaut, Judicator, Disciple. Generally, there aren't any choices to think about as most builds quite clearly synergize with one of them.
In this case, Disciple is the one you want to take. This has some major implications very soon for Wing Strikes, but for the time being, use it to grant yourself a 50% multiplicative damage boost to Blessed Hammer (which is considered a Disciple skill thanks to Disciple's Halo.) In order to activate the Disciple Oath and enter Arbiter form, simply cast Falling Star or any other Disciple skill that has a cooldown.
Condemn + Arbiter of Justice
Speaking of Disciple skills with cooldowns, Condemn is one of them. Alongside Falling Star, this is how you frequently enter Arbiter form to gain its effects. Condemn has some great utility too, since it groups up enemies and applies Vulnerable.
Unlocking Arbiter of Justice means you're very close to revealing the true power of the Disciple Oath, which is Wing Strikes. Put a couple of points here to begin pathing toward Seraph's Wings, and then...
Respec
Yeah, it's respec time (goodbye, Blessed Hammer.) Once you've unlocked your 26th Skill Point, you can finally start playing Wing Strikes. When you respec, you can either redistribute your points manually or use the "Refund All' button at the bottom of your Skill Tree. Use the Wing Strikes (Respec) progression step above to ensure you allocate all points correctly.
From now on, all of your damage comes from being in Arbiter form and utilizing its Wing Strikes ability. As mentioned earlier, you enter Arbiter form by using any Disciple-tagged skill that has a cooldown. That means Falling Star, Condemn, and the newest addition, Advance. Alternate between these three skills to stay in Arbiter form permanently. If you can, start prioritizing Cooldown Reduction to help this loop feel much more smooth.
Consecration + Exaltation
The next new skill you pick up is Consecration. This is another great skill that's used in many Paladin builds, as it's one of the best ways to apply Weaken to enemies. Additionally, it makes enemies within its radius take 15% more damage from all sources.
Exaltation is your Key Passive, and it has one purpose: drastically increasing the damage output of Wing Strikes. Aside from the huge multiplier it gives, it also adds an additional strike to its volley (increasing the amount from 3 to 4.)
Final Journey to Level 60
At this point, the leveling setup is complete and all of the key synergies are unlocked. On the way to level 60, you gain many extra points that go into various offensive and defensive passives or max out certain skills. Check out the skills progression above to see where to put your points as you go. In general, try to target passives that have an immediate effect on your character's power based on your progression. For example, passives like Iron Sharpens Iron and Heavyweight might not immediately be of great use to you if your Critical Strike Chance is low, so it's better to take them later on.
Endgame Swaps
The endgame build looks different from the leveling build due to additional progression steps later, leading to several adjustments on the skill tree as you acquire more Aspects and Uniques. To find out more details, check out the Wing Strikes Paladin Endgame Guide.
You can unlock 12 extra skill points for a total of 71. Check out our Season Rank Guide for more details.
Paladin Oath
The Disciple Oath enables the entire build, as taking it is the only way to acquire the Wing Strikes ability with this setup. Simply put, you can't play the build unless you take this Oath, so it's an easy decision.

Gear & Stat Priorities
To get started as a Wing Strikes Paladin, focus the most on upgrading your weapon as its damage is the base for all further damage calculations. Otherwise, follow the priority list below. While you don't have all of the desired temper manuals available, simply try to get anything useful on your gear until you acquire the right ones. For example, % Damage, Vulnerable Damage, Critical Strike Damage, etc. all work as long as you activate their conditions. Likewise, you can temper multiple defensive options such as Resistances, Life, Armor to fill gaps in your survivability. Tempering low level gear is relatively cheap and the results can be very impactful.
Tip: For the early game, Elemental Surge Weapon Tempers are very powerful due to their high base damage, especially if you are twinking. If you find these, you may want to keep imprinting them on your weapons for an easy time.
Read more about itemization in our Beginner Articles about Damage, Defense and Stats.
Legendaries & Uniques
The Codex of Power is a collection of Legendary Aspects you can imprint onto Rare or Legendary items at the Occultist. They unlock after completing specific Dungeons located around Sanctuary or salvaging items with these powers. Check out our Map Tool to locate these Dungeons.
For leveling, there are a few powers that can significantly help us if we have the funds to imprint them. In addition, keep an eye out for powerful Unique items you may find for this or other builds.

Jackpot Drops
As you level up, you may get lucky and find some great random drops. Some of these can massively amplify your power and speed up the leveling by switching to another build. Keep in mind that there are many more Aspects and Uniques that can be useful to multiple builds; this just lists some of the most impactful ones. While we usually recommend starting with Endgame Builds at level 60, you often can make them work earlier with these drops:
Build-defining Uniques
- Ward of the White Dove (enables Blessed Shield Endgame Build)
- Bastion of Sir Matthias (enables Shield Bash Endgame Build)
- Mantle of the Grey (enables Shield of Retribution and Shield Charge Endgame Builds)
- Dawnfire (enables Auradin Endgame Build)
- Supplication (enables Brandish Endgame Build)

Runes
You can have up to two Runewords in your setup, each consisting of one Ritual and one Invocation Rune. Socket them in Two-Handed Weapons if your build calls for them, otherwise place them into your Armor pieces to replace normal gems. The Wing Strikes Paladin focuses on the following combos:
Best in Slot
- Moni + Gar - You have two Mobility-tagged skills in this build, which makes it very easy to activate this Runeword and give yourself a good chunk of Critical Strike Chance.
- Cir + Ceh - This Runeword spawns wolves that deal decent supplemental damage. They also Freeze enemies and apply Vulnerable.
Alternative choices
If you have access to higher level runes, you can also explore the following options:
- Wat - Decrepify helps with stagger, defense and allows you to execute enemies at 10% health. This counts as invoking a skill from another class, so using Xol in your other Runeword allows you to quickly generate a large amount of Offering for any other Rune of your choice.
- Yul - You have a lot of skills that have cooldowns, which makes this a decent choice for generating Offering.
- Igni - Another good way of generating Offering.
- Thul - Applies Vulnerable and makes all enemies hit by it take 15% increased damage.
- Ohm - Gives you Berserking, which is a nice multiplicative damage boost.

Mercenaries
Mercenaries are unlocked during the Vessel of Hatred campaign and assist you in battle. There are 4 separate Mercenaries to choose from, each with their own skill trees and abilities. You can have one hired (permanent) mercenary during solo play and a reinforcement who assists you from time to time in certain situations.
Hired: Raheir
He gives you some extra All Resistances and also occasionally boosts your damage with Inspiration. Subo is also a great choice for his Seeker ability.
Reinforcement: Aldkin
He uses Field of Languish, which grants some extra damage reduction.

How To Level
In Diablo 4, you can level by completing the Campaign, collecting Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, completing Helltide activities, grinding Dungeons, clearing Strongholds, fighting in the Undercity of Kurast or interacting with the Seasonal Mechanics. While there are many ways to level up in Diablo 4, not all of them are equal.
Campaign Leveling
- For your first character in Diablo 4, completing the Campaign provides all the background lore information but is not necessary.
- The original Campaign is the slowest way to level, but it's worth experiencing the Campaign and Diablo 4's storyline at least once.
- To play Seasonal Content you need to have completed or skipped the Campaign.
- After finishing the campaign, you should focus on earning experience in Helltides by combining it with Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers or completing Gathering Legion Events.
- Strongholds provide a big boost of experience for little time investment. Make sure to clear all of them after around level 50.
Vessel of Hatred Campaign
- This is the fastest way to level up in a fresh season.
- Stay on Normal difficulty and skip as many monsters as possible while rushing all main objectives for massive XP spikes.
- You can also just partially complete and skip the remaining Campaign at any time from the main menu to get an early boost until your build is online.
- After finishing the campaign, you should focus on earning experience in Helltides by combining it with Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers or completing Gathering Legion Events.
- Strongholds provide a big boost of experience for little time investment. They are a good choice to finish the final levels quickly.
- Find the most efficient way of leveling your character in detail with our Speed Leveling Guide.
Seasonal / Alt Leveling
- Complete the Seasonal Questline in order to progress your Season Rank to unlock additional perks, loot and work on your Seasonal Powers.
- Preferably stay on Hard difficulty or above to benefit from the extra XP multipliers as long as your clear speed remains fast. Use power jumps (e.g. key passive, legendary drops) to bump up the difficulty.
- Complete the Dungeons needed for any Legendary Aspects from your Codex of Power.
- From level 1-60 you should focus on earning experience in Helltides by combining Helltide activities with Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers or completing Gathering Legion Events.
- Strongholds provide a big boost of experience for little time investment. Make sure to clear all of them after around level 50.
- If you're playing an Alt, make sure to use Tempers when you have the materials to do so.

Tips and Tricks
- Imprint Important Aspects on Amulet
- It is a good idea to put your best Offensive Aspect on your Amulet, since it is usually not replaced as often as other gear.
- Compare Your Items
- Press Shift to activate item comparison. Use this build guide's Stat Priorities section to identify potential upgrades.
- Choose an Easy Difficulty
- Ideally, start on Normal or Hard difficulty for the extra XP modifier, then try to go higher when it's way too easy. If that slows you down noticeably, it's better to stay on a lower difficulty.
- Use Your Materials
- There's no point in holding on to your gold or materials for later. Use everything to speed up your journey to 60. If you're twinking, make sure to craft the Allowance Caches from the Alchemist at level 20 and if available, equip your Mythic Uniques at level 35 to make the leveling a breeze.
Speedrun Route
- If you're looking to min/max your time spent on the way to 60 instead of following a generic guideline, you need to use a specific strategy.
- This usually includes farming certain activities up to a specified level and then switching to other tasks while gathering XP in high density areas and pushing the difficulty as high as you can.
- We update this strategy seasonally in our Speed Leveling Guide.
Endgame Transition
As you approach level 60 with the Wing Strikes Paladin, you unlock higher item power gear that represents a massive jump in character power. This is a good time to refresh your setup with new tempers and imprints.
After reaching level 60 and finishing the second Capstone Dungeon, Paragon Levels and The Pit unlock. Complete Tier 10 to enter Torment 1, where Diablo IV's Endgame begins.
At this point, your setup should look roughly like this before you dive into min/maxing with Aspects, Uniques, Mythics and more. With better gear, more levels and Glyphs, you can push further and eventually unlock higher difficulties for increased rewards.
This step marks the end of the leveling guide. Below is the Paragon setup to get you started in Torment difficulty but ideally you should now transition towards the endgame version of this build or choose another of your liking.

BD 总结
The Wing Strikes Paladin offers a passive playstyle that excels in all content. Here's what makes it great:
- Essentially a walking simulator; cast Falling Star for more mobility or just keep strollin'.
- Not very gear dependent and only requires a single item, Sanctis of Kethamar, to really start blasting.
- Seraph's Wings gives it Movement Speed cap with no other investment!
- Permanent Arbiter uptime. You get to play as a badass angel!
